I extend to you a warm welcome to our School whether you are a parent, new to our school, or whether you are looking
at Opaheke as an option for your children.
This school is a special place for those who work here, study here, or visit here, for all and
more of the following reasons:
- Children are accepted for who they are no matter what their religious, cultural or ethnic background
- As students they are expected to achieve to their best level intellectually
- High standards of conduct are expected of all students - no exceptions
- The School has a strong support base in its wider community with over 30% of students
coming from outside of Opaheke's geographical boundaries
- A track record of high teacher expertise and commitment
- Successive Boards of Trustees have developed structures, procedures and policies
that have enabled this school to develop in its unique way
- The school has had enthusiastic Parent Teacher Associations who have worked hard to provide
additional resources for all of the children
- In 1999 Opaheke became a full primary school following permission being given by the Minister of Education.
Prior to this extensive consultation was carried out with parents, staff, the wider Opaheke community
and neighbouring schools. This now means that our students can complete their primary education in Year 7
and 8 at Opaheke
- The school is laid out in a compact way in order that maximum space is left
available for students to play
- The school has many facilities for children's use e.g. computers, a modern library,
extensive sports equipment, two adventure playgrounds, a hall, a swimming pool and a lunchroom
- Sharing, Caring, Learning and Achieving' is Opaheke School's Mission Statement and we constantly
work towards this end in all that we do
I am proud to be Principal of Opaheke School and all that it represents and stands for.
I hope you also will come to appreciate and enjoy 'our world'.
Murray Wratt
Principal
