Opportunities are available for students in Year 7 and 8 to learn foreign languages.
The languages covered over a two year period are Spanish, German and
Te Reo Maori. Languages organisation depends largely upon the numbers
of Year 7 and 8 students in the school and may change from year to
year. Under the current organisation Year 7 students receive
instruction in each language over two years, with an extra semester of
instruction in their preferred language at the end of Year 8. Year 8
students receive instruction in the three languages with an extra
semester of instruction in one language.
The second language classes are taught by Ms Montofre, a native
speaker of Spanish, Miss Rountree and Mrs Woods. Opaheke School is
fortunate to have the services of these fluent speakers of other
languages on our staff.
