Years 4 – 8

Since 2015, students in the senior part of our school have had the option of bringing their own device to use at school. These devices provide the opportunity for our students to enhance their learning as part of the daily classroom programme.
We use devices daily to help support learning in a myriad of ways - from using OneNote to access our everyday learning activities and share work with teachers, to maths practice activities, online books, coding, journalling our learning, and much more.
We have a proud track record of having one device for every student in Years 4 – 8. This ensures access for everyone and the steady development of computer-related skills for all. One-to-one is possible in our school due largely to the number of families who are willing and able to purchase a device for their child. This reduces the demand on our own supply which in turn enables this limited resource to go further.
Students may bring devices that they already have at home although there are some minimum requirements regarding specifications such as screen size and battery life. The minimum specifications can be found here: Device Specifications 2023. Our education partner, Noel Leeming - Papakura, can help with the selection of a suitable device. Please take our minimum requirements flyer along with you so they can help with options.
If your child brings their device to school, they should also bring to the office a signed agreement, which you will find here: MML Device Agreement 2023. Please take some time to read this document with your child. We have rigorous processes at school for the safe storage of devices and a well-monitored filtering system to limit distractions and restrict inappropriate content.
We hope you will be part of our mobile learning journey.
